Economic Development

Universidad del Turabo actively supports economic development activities through the joint efforts of the Office of the Vice-Chancellor and the Office of Commercialization and Economic Development. These offices have been involved in the design and creation of three regional economic development organizations: INTECO, INTENOR and DISUR.   Both offices are actively involved in projects related to the development of science and technology parks, business incubators and entrepreneurship training, as well as R&D and specialized workforce training centers (see CETA). Universidad del Turabo and the Office of Commercialization and Economic Development have set the pace for the academic sector’s involvement in regional economic development in Puerto Rico.   The University also maintains  close working and mentoring relations with organizations such as the Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission and the University of Central Florida’s Vice-Presidency of Research & Commercialization, among others.
