Research at UT
Universidad del Turabo’s transformation from a primarily undergraduate teaching institution to a teaching & research university with a balanced emphasis on teaching and research is guided by the
Research Advisory Committee (CAI for its spanish acronym) established in 2003 by the Chancellor, Dennis Alicea. To complete this transition, UT has rapidly expanded its graduate programs while retaining its high quality, student-focused undergraduate teaching programs and implemented a Strategic Research Plan.
The Strategic Research Plan for the period 2007 – 2009 define four Interdisciplinary Research Focus Areas (IRFA's) in which the University will concentrate efforts and resources. These IRFA’s do not represent all of the research interests of the UT, thus, for reporting and planning purposes a fifth area known as (5) Independent Research Areas (IRA) will be included.
